Nose tackle Sione Pouha, the Jets' top free agent, is not expected to be tagged, per a person with knowledge of the team's strategy per Jenny Vrentas of the Newark Star-Ledger. The Jets are tight on salary cap space -- they are about even with the cap as of today, ESPN reported -- so tagging Pouha does not make sense from a financial standpoint. Working on a multi-year deal before free agency opens on March 13 makes more sense, though Pouha's age, 33, would likely be a factor in the length of the deal.

Now that Randy Moss has expressed a desire to return to playing in the NFL, the question is where will he land? Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports reports that according to a source close to Moss, the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Jets are at least curious and the San Francisco 49ers could look to fill a hole if they let go of Josh Morgan in free agency. A source with one of those teams conveyed via text it would be “intriguing” to see what Moss has left in the tank after a year away from the game.

Jets right tackle Wayne Hunter's$2.45 million base salary became guaranteed Wednesday according to Jenny Vrentas of the Newark Star-Ledger. The Jets had written a loophole in Hunter's 2011 contract which would have gotten them out of guaranteeing his salary if they released him on the Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday after the Superbowl. Since they took no action, Hunter gets the money. The 30-year-old Hunter was a media whipping boy in his first year as a starter. Nevertheless, given his salary it would appear the Jets...
