Seahawks QB Tarvaris Jackson, who had a middling debut year in Seattle in 2011 (7-7, 3,091 yards, 14 TDs, 13 INTs), has one year left on his contract. Backup Charlie Whitehurst has none and is headed for free agency. So surely the Emerald City should be a logical option for Colts QB Peyton Manning if he leaves Indianapolis, right? After all, the Seahawks are quietly building a strong foundation while focusing on defense and the O-line, facets that appeal to veteran quarterbacks. But hold your horses, ‘Hawks fans. “I... He mentions that playing in Seattle would likely reduce the scrutiny that Manning would otherwise have to deal with in different markets and mentions that a good core of solid players should also be an attractive... Although there's plenty of talk in Seattle suggesting that a franchise tag is imminent for free-agent RB Marshawn Lynch, Pro Football Weekly hears that the team would much prefer to re-sign Lynch to a long-term deal. Word is the team also definitely intends to go out of its way to re-sign free-agent DE Red Bryant, the key to the team's run defense, as well as a locker-room leader. MLB David Hawthorne, the team's leading tackler the last three seasons, is another key free-agent re-signing target, but the Seahawks will... [Read More]

Among those who will have to wait at least another year are Head Coach Bill Parcells, RB Jerome Bettis, WR Cris Carter, WR Andre Reed and DE/OLB Charles Haley.
In his first year with the Seahawks, free-agent addition Robert Gallery had a real roller-coaster season. But after struggling the first half of the season with a groin injury, we hear the team was quite pleased with the former Raider first-round draft pick's play at left guard down the stretch. "He was one of a lot of veteran guys who wasn't in the best of shape because of not having a full conditioning program. They're looking forward to him hopefully being a lot healthier next year."
