Broncos QB Peyton Manning's Arm Strength A Concern After Three Picks

In the preseason, the concern over Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning vacillated between wondering whether the 36-year-old could take a hit and mulling over whether his arm strength and deep accuracy would return to the level he had before several neck surgeries.

After Monday's 27-21 loss to the Falcons, the focus revolves around Manning's arm. All three of Manning's interceptions came on passes of more than 20 yards down the seam—the same spot that gave him trouble during the preseason.

Manning attributed the errant throws to "decision making" rather than anything physical. But if the Broncos' offense is going to work as it was intended, Manning cannot rely solely on short timing passes; he needs some deep connections to create space for the underneath routes.

Too much panic. Last time Manning faced a Mike Nolan D was against SF, and they shut him down when their D wasn't very good. Some coaches just have some player's numbers.

well, no doubt a lot of manning's deep passes thus far have been floating. however, i think everyone around peyton was pretty clear that it was still going to take some time to build his strength back up in his arm/shoulder/neck area so i don't think anyone should have expected peyton to come into this season with the same strength he had 2 years ago.

if they did, they weren't paying attention.
