Broncos rookie quarterback Brock Osweiler was coming in if the Broncos got the ball back in the final seconds of their game Monday night against Atlanta, Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports.

The Oakland Raiders, trying to address their needs after an 0-2 start, had six players in for workouts Tuesday, Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

As reported yesterday, former Cal defensive end Andre Carter, who had 10 sacks last season for the Patriots, was back in for a second look.

Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson should be very happy about his injured knee after a successful "range-of-motion examination showed his lateral collateral ligament will not require surgery," according to The Buffalo News. Jackson should be back "in the earlier part" of his original three- to eight-week diagnosis. In addition, he should be able to begin light running very soon.

DT Andre Fluellen has signed with the Dolphins after playing the past four seasons for the Lions.

The 302-pound Fluellen, a former Florida State player, was cut by the Lions near the end of training camp. His signing with Miami was confirmed on Twitter by his agent, Jerrold Colton.

He has played in 51 NFL games, mostly as a reserve. On the roster he replaces DL Ryan Baker, who was waived.

Coach John Fox announced that today, G/C Philip Blake has been placed on the IR with a thumb injury, ending his rookie season with the Broncos. The Broncos activated C.J Davis from the practice squad to the active roster, and added G/T Adam Grant to the practice squad to replace Davis.

In the preseason, the concern over Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning vacillated between wondering whether the 36-year-old could take a hit and mulling over whether his arm strength and deep accuracy would return to the level he had before several neck surgeries.

The New Orleans Saints signed cornerback Elbert Mack on Tuesday after waiving cornerback Jerome Murphy on Monday. The team also released wide receiver Adrian Arrington with an injury settlement after placing Arrington on injured reserve last week.

Mack signed with the Saints during the offseason and made it through the last set of training camp cuts. The Saints cut Mack, though, two days later after claiming Murphy off waivers from St. Louis.

A federal judge set a trial date of March 26 in Portland, Ore., for a civil lawsuit seeking more than $1 million from Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh as a result of a one-car accident in December, according to the Oregonian.
