Browns RB Trent Richardson Injury Leaves Him Uncertain For Season Opener

The Cleveland Browns have a problem without knowing for certain what or when the solution will arrive.

How soon can No. 3 overall draft pick Trent Richardson come back from Aug. 9 knee surgery? The guess is in time to play Sept. 9 against Philadelphia in the opener and probably no later than Sept. 16 at Cincinnati.

The problem is Richardson is a rookie who will have missed all four preseason games and could be a sitting duck for defenses stacking boxes until another rookie, quarterback Brandon Weeden, proves he can make a dent with an unaccomplished receiving corps.

The best plan is to work in Richardson gradually, seeing how he handles a small dose of carries.
